up:: [[The Estuarine Framework]] ## A typology of potential action In a similar way to [[A Typology of Constraints]], a typology of action can be used to stimulate ideas, and generate the potential micro-interventions against the [[The Estuarine Framework|map]]. - **Compass Rose:** refers to micro-interventions designed to increase (North) or decrease (South) the energy cost, or increase (East) or decrease (West) the time cost around a [[Constraints|constraint]]. - **Monitor:** refers to micro-projects associated with [[Boundaries]]. Often the only type of action beyond the [[Counterfactuals|counterfactual]] [[Boundaries|boundary]]. These projects indicate if the boundaries are shifting or changing. **Forward scouts** are associated with specific [[Constraints]] beyond the counterfactual boundary to indicate early signs of change--that could represent either opportunity or threat. - **Request:** refers to reaching out for collaboration, connection, or permission. These actions are especially associated with the liminal boundary. - **Stabilise:** refers to confirming a constraint is exactly where it needs to be. - **Conditional:** refers to action explicitly aimed towards identifying [[Connections]] between [[Constraints]]--conditions or changes in one that will enable change or action elsewhere on the map. - **Trigger:** refers to the presence of conditions for action. - **Research:** refers to when research becomes an action in itself e.g., deeper investigation, sense-making, or extending the range of available options. ###### Sources [[Estuarine Framework by Cynefin.io]] ###### Related left:: [[A Typology of Constraints]]
